Showcases diverse array of STEM careers available in Pittsburgh
SDLC Partners hosted 25 regional college students and educators as a Gold Sponsor of the 2019 STEM Summit on Thursday, May 2, 2019.
Organized by the Pittsburgh Technology Council, the 2019 STEM Summit is a one-day event designed to showcase the diverse array of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math related careers that are available in southwestern Pennsylvania.
SDLC Partners provided a site tour of their downtown headquarters, as well as a presentation on Careers in Technology and an interactive session, exploring Robotic Process Automation. In this session, attendees learned the power of artificial intelligence and digital robots.
Chris Simchick, CEO, and Brian Donnelly, Regional Business Development Executive kicked off the day, highlighting the types of technology careers that are popular and needed now. Simchick shared, “We were thrilled to discuss the growing need for regional talent in STEM-related careers to area educators today. They are on the forefront of helping our area’s youth prepare for their futures and our future workforce.”
SDLC Consultants participated in the event by teaching the students about Robotic Process Automation – technology that uses business logic and structured inputs to streamline manual activities. The team lead an interactive exercise where students learned the power of a digital robot to improve efficiency by building a bot that could suggest what clothing would be most appropriate based on temperature.
Co-founder and chief sales and marketing officer, Scott Barnyak, summed up the day, saying, “Supporting regional initiatives, like the STEM Summit and our annual Hackathon, aligns with the value that we want to bring to the region – to our clients, to our employees, and to the young people who are our future.”
