SDLC Partners is a Vested Partner in Helping Clients Make Tangible, Sustainable Change
Twelve years ago, Chris Simchick, Scott Barnyak, and Christy Maruca realized something was missing in the techenablement consulting industry. Plenty of firms could deliver strategies that, in theory, would accomplish clients’ goals. But too often, strategies were left to a client’s internal team that may or may not be equipped to execute.
And what good are theoretical solutions if they aren’t executed properly? That’s where Simchick, Barnyak, and Maruca realized they could make a difference. Founded with just three employees, SDLC Partners has grown to nearly 400 employees in just over a decade due to the success of its end-to-end partnership process.
“It’s the intersection of strategy and execution where we focus in order to ensure customer outcomes in the marketplace,” says Simchick, Founder and CEO of SDLC. “Our process is practical, collaborative, and flexible,” says Barnyak, Founder and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. “The proof of our effectiveness is that we actually drive results.”
Often working hand-in-hand with the client’s C-suite, SDLC primarily attracts mid- to large-market companies looking for an alternative to the “big four” approach. “Our focus is execution, and we do that with an operating rigor and a cadence that is likened to companies many times our size,” says Simchick. “Our entrepreneurial culture means we maintain a keen eye toward continuous improvement and practical innovation.”
“We look at every problem through four dimensions: process, data, technology, and people,”

To SDLC, a challenge never operates in a vacuum; it is always part of a larger picture. For example, a client might engage the firm to help with reporting and data analytics, but SDLC knows the data is meaningless without the proper context, workflow, and measurement.
“We look at every problem through four dimensions: process, data, technology, and people,” says Barnyak. “By using a broader lens, we can anticipate future challenges and build a solution that is scalable, flexible, and durable for the future.”
Real Life Results
When a health care provider needed to reduce operating costs while increasing service platforms, SDLC re-engineered more than 500 in-house processes and integrated multiple new health care platforms to save the client $15 million annually in administration costs.
Results like these have earned the firm recurring spots on the Inc. 5000, Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Tech 50 list, and the Pittsburgh Business Times’ 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies list, among others.
And SDLC isn’t slowing down anytime soon. An ambitious multi-year vision projects continued growth at 15-25 percent per year with business operations radiating throughout the Midwest and East Coast. The firm will also remain committed to its community initiatives, particularly in STEM partnerships. “It’s not all just business for us,” says Simchick. “We recognize the value in giving back, and we take that seriously.”
